iPhone 5 case reinforcing rumors of thinner, larger, tapered device

Today a new iPhone 5 case has been spotted, but this time it is a little different from the other rumors as this case shows reinforcing rumors of a thinner, larger, tapered device,

Also as you can see from the image below, an iPhone 4 fits inside this case with plenty of room all around, but the measurements that the user posted to GDGT would actually make the case smaller than the iPhone 4.
As the reports say the case to be 110mm in height, 55mm in width, and tapered from 8mm at the top to 6mm at the bottom. The iPhone 4, however, according to Apple’s website, is 115.2mm in height, and 58.6mm in width. Which, of course, makes the iPhone 4 bigger than this case.

NEW EXPLOITS FOR iPad2 AND iOS 5 ENSURE JAILBREAK!!

I couldn’t believe this news when I heard it first time but I had to. That would be the biggest news we’ve heard since a while ago: The popular iPhone hacker, P0sixninja, has announced that they discovered five userland exploits for both the iPad 2 and iPhone 5.

The news comes from MyGreatFest when the Chornic Dev Team (@p0sixninja and @iOPK) were on the stage. P0sixninja at first gave a nod of the head to @comex, who is popular for his tool known as JailbreakMe.

P0sixninja notes that the Chronic Dev Team will strive to release an iPhone 5 jailbreak solution once it’s released. The next greenpois0n version will be a userland jailbreak just the same as JailbreakMe.

In case you don’t know, userland jailbreaks are related to software. In other words you can jailbreak the firmware directly from your iOS device and Apple can patch these exploits in next firmware releases. The hardware-based exploits are those which like Limera1n exploit found by Geohot which jailbreaks your device forever.

P0sixninja said that the the next jailbreak will be the most amazing jailbreak yet. So yes, the iPhone 5 will be jailbreakable only few days after its launch. The team is also seeking for talented people who can join the team to continue jailbreaking iOS devices.

The jailbreak will of course work on iPad 2 and iPhone 5 running iOS 5.

The Chronic Dev Team said that they need the new iPhone 5 to see which exploit will work on it from those five discovered exploits:

The team is as ready as it can be for the iPhone 5 jailbreak, without having the actual handset. Once the iPhone 5 is available, the Chronic Dev Team will be working hard to find a jailbreak solution, and release it to the public.

Saurik will be on the stage later today at MyGreatFest, so stay tuned for more jailbreak news to come!

MuscleNerd Announces a Major Update to the RedSn0w Jailbreak Utility

MuscleNerd has announced a major update to RedSn0w that removes the need to select an IPSW and brings the ability to save and submit your SHSH Blobs to Cydia.

Will be pushing out a major redsn0w feature upgrade before my trip to Korea: http://is.gd/PMAdT1 (and look, no IPSW selection button!)

The new version of RedSn0w will be released before Monday. Rather than requiring ipsw selection, RedSn0w will now automatically fetch the important pieces directly from Apple (and caches them so that it never needs to re-fetch them again).

For those wondering, the new RedSn0w “won’t auto-fetch the betas (since they’re not public). You need to provide them (once).”

Apple Customer Accidentally Given Store Hard Drive Full Of Secrets

It seems Apple is spiraling out of control ever since Steve Jobs has resigned as Apple CEO.  An Apple store customer was given store’s hard drive containing internal company media and documents mistakenly after getting his computer repaired at one of the company’s outlets. The repair was made at an Apple store in Stamford, Conn.

CultOfMac posted some photos from an anonymous who says he was accidentally given the hard drive along with his Mac that was being repaired at the store.

The unnamed person told Cult of Mac:

“The drive contains confidential docs, internal manuals, Apple’s sales [techniques], an Apple store work checklist, products layout, time schedules, pictures and videos of Apple corporate activities that only Apple employees can see, videos of store meetings, business structure and much much much more.”

Yesterday, the iPhone 5 Prototype was lost in a bar and now Apple Store’s hard drive. Apple lost some confidential data over the last few days. Lets see what’s next!

Apple Loses iPhone 5 In A Bar

Apple didn’t learn from it’s last year mistake. Just before the iPhone 4 launch, Apple lost an iPhone 4 prototype in a bar where a youngster called Brain Hogan sold the iPhone 4 prototype to Gizmodo for $5000. Believe it or not, that happens again.

CNET is reporting that an iPhone prototype which is probably the upcoming iPhone 5 was lost in Cava22, a Mexican restaurant and bar in San Francisco’s Mission District.

This prototype is believed to have been sold on Craigslist for $200. The device were lost in late July and Apple security has been trying to track it down.

Of course it’s still unknown what version of iOS the device was running and what its design is. It’s still interesting that we are seeing Apple is repeating its mistake again.

And yes, basically everything is unknown. No picture, no design, no iOS version but we’ve to know that kind of news.

Apple Didn’t Hire Comex For His Skills?

In case you haven’t heard yet,  popular jailbreak hacker, Comex (Nicholas Allegra), has been hired by Apple two weeks ago. Everyone thinks that the reason behind that is Comex’s great skills and what he can do for the company but it looks like there’s another reason behind Comex work for Apple.

Our friends over iDownloadBlog has been tipped off from an anonymous inside Apple that Comex was hired out of embarrassment. In other words, Apple hired Comex to stop him from finding more exploits as those he found before and so as not to embarrass them.

Here’s what the tipster says:

I hear we didn’t hire Comex for his skills, but to ensure that he won’t reveal embarrassing exploits anymore.

It’s highly a true reason as Comex was a great person for jailbreak community in finding jailbreak exploits. He first found an untethered jailbreak for iPad, known as Spirit. Followed by first iPhone 4 jailbreak, JailbreakMe 2.0 aka Star and finally the first iPad 2 jailbreak, JailbreakMe 3.0. You’re great, Comex!

So, in brief, Apple may be hiring the leaders of jailbreak community to prevent finding more exploits, or… to find these exploits for Apple so as to close these holes?

JailbreakMe 4.0 For iOS 5 To Be Released By MuscleNerd?

A few days ago, the popular jailbreak hacker known as Comex has reported via his Twitter handle that he’s going to be interning at Apple. This means something important for the jailbreak community; Comex will not work on any jailbreak tools as long as he is working for Apple.

JailbreakMe 4.0

When a user asked about next generation JailbreakMe 4.0 for iOS 5, he answered that may be MuscleNerd will work on it.

@xBFGinger I’m hoping @MuscleNerd will make JailbreakMe 4. :P

JailbreakMe 4.0 story:

In case you don’t know, JailbreakMe is a userland jailbreak developed by Comex. Starting from JailbreakMe 2.0 Star which was developed to jailbreak the iPhone 4 and then JailbreakMe 3.0 for iPad 2.

Now we’re looking forward a new version of the tool, JailbreakMe 4.0. We may say that JailbreakMe 4.0 will be developed by MuscleNerd and will jailbreak Apple’s next iOS update, the iOS 5. JailbreakMe 4.0 may also hit both iPhone 5 and iOS 5.

Don’t forget that George Hotz and P0sixninja may have some hidden exploits for the next releases from Apple.

Although Comex’s internship with Apple makes the jailbreak community sad for losing a great jailbreak hacker but we can look forward JailbreakMe 4.0 and more tools in the next few months.
