BEWARE: FastRa1n IS A FAKE!!!

While everyone is currently waiting for an iOS 5 untethered jailbreak to work on all iOS devices including the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, some scammers are trying to get some money from fake tools. One example of these tools is FastRa1n.

FastRa1n

A story published yesterday on International Business Time made people crazy about this new tool. The story published is telling users that FastRa1n is a working untethered iOS 5 jailbreak. This is totally WRONG.

We’re always here to help our users and warn them from using such tools. MuscleNerd, in a tweet answering someone about FastRa1n, said that FastRa1n jailbreak tool is totally fake and it has nothing to do with iOS 5. The provider charges you $24.99 to give the tool.

We highly CAUTION you from using such tools. They just take money from you and won’t give anything in return. You’ll just be fooled for a nothing, or worse even, a damaged iDevice

MuscleNerd said that the team is currently working on iOS 5 untethered jailbreak among other things as getting OTA updates on jailbroken devices, getting a method to downgrade baseband 06.15 and more.

Don’t forget to ignore any kind of these tools and just follow us for trusted news about untethered jailbreak. And remember, it’s just about time!

More About That Siri Port On Older iOS 5 Devices

Couple of days back we’ve posted an article telling you that Siri will be ported to all older devices running iOS 5 and that it won’t need an iPhone 4S jailbreak to get files from the device. However, it was still unclear if this developer has really ported Siri on the iPhone 4 or not. It wasn’t also confirmed (or proved) if he had successfully connected Siri to Apple’s servers on the iPhone 4.

Cydia showed + Siri means iPhone 4

Now, Joshua Tucker of ModMyi, who is a beta tester for the Siri port which JackoPlane is currently developing, came up with a full FAQ about Siri port.

1. Who is currently working on this port?At this current time, the people that are working on this particular port of Siri are Jack (@Jackoplane) and iH8sn0w. Joshua Tucker of ModMyi is the outside beta tester for this particular version.2. What devices will be supported?

Currently, the port is being tested on an iPhone 4. However, the end goal is to port on all devices. At this time, we can not make any promises to when those will be, however the iPhone 3GS is looking promising outside of just the iPhone 4 at the moment.

3. Are we in need of any beta testers?

At this time, Jack and the team working on the port (including myself – beta testing wise) are not in need of any testers at this time. Asking if that is possible is not the best idea – if we do need more people, we will extent that opportunity out when the time comes.

4. When will this port be released?

We are not specifying an ETA at this time. The reason being is because we do not want to miss our expectation if we were to same something. Note that as soon as possible, we will release that information. For the time being however, there’s no decided or even thought up date for releasing this to the public.

5. How will this port be distributed?

There are numerous ways of distributing this particular port, however it’s a matter of how the files end up being compiled as well as cost. Cydia has been suggested many times and that is a viable option. However, we’re not limiting ourselves to just that venue as the tables may turn. At this particular moment in time, where this port will be distributed is currently undecided. Those of us that are hands-on with the work are always entertaining new ideas and will decide the venue when the time is right.

6. Will it be free or paid?

This is still undecided. This particular component is highly reliant on how we distribute this piece of software. Again, as the above, we’re thinking through it thoroughly to ensure the best for all. The reason why it may be required to pay (if not donate) is because there are hosting related costs that will need to be taken care of when the time comes.

7. When you say that there are “legal issues” to be deal with, what do you mean?

Because Siri is Apple’s product as well as copyrighted, one can’t just release these files and not get away with violating the law. When the news of Jack’s work as well as my involvement began, the files I had were strictly Apple’s. Thus, if we had given those files out then we could possibly be viable for copyright infringement and as many of you know from people like geohot, that’s no good in the hood.

8. What’s the current status of the port?

Because when we were first testing it and the legality of the whole ordeal, we’re are starting from the ground up. Re-writing code and that sort of thing to avoid copyright infringement. At this current stage, performance of Siri is just as good as on the iPhone 4S.

9. When will a video be released?

A performance video will be released tonight to show that the speed of Siri has been greatly improved. As for a full fledged video, that will be here in the next few days.

10. Is a jailbreak required to install Siri on a non-iPhone 4S device

Absolutely; no question.

11. Any update on the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5/iPhone 4S

We know nothing more than the public does. It’s not worth asking because we have absolutely no idea.

12. How does the Siri port connect to Apple’s servers?

When you first activate an iPhone 4S, when you enable Siri, Apple’s servers basically says “Oh, you’re an iPhone 4S. You’re clear.” Since we don’t have that luxury, we have to intercept the data that is being exchanged between devices to initially “trick” Apple’s servers into thinking that the device is authorized. So, imagine that what we have setup is a middle man.

iPhone 4 (in this case) sends out commands to Apple’s servers, we intercept and change the data, send to Apple’s servers, and Apple’s servers goes “Cool beans.”

13. What is required to host this type of capability?

We won’t really go into this because the process is not something that you can easily explain. However, as you guys have mentioned in chat, hosting this particular server to intercept data will cost money and will be the venue for all users to use Siri without an iPhone 4S.

14. Even though you can’t give an ETA, is it days, months, years, lifetimes, millenniums, never?

Weeks.

15. Is the authentication process made just one or every time?

Anytime you request from Apple’s servers, it performs a method of authentication.

16. What’s so special about the iPhone 4S and its connection with Siri?

There is nothing special about the 4S that makes it so that Siri can only work on that chip. Nothing is hardware accelerated in regards to Siri.

17. When you say that authentication is required, what does it take?

Not releasing this information at this time.

Moreover, Tucker posted a video showing Siri speed on iPhone 4. It’s working very well and not laggy at all.

JackoPlane posted a screenshot which he claimed to be from his iPhone 4. The screenshot shows Siri fully working and answering him, so it does mean that he got Siri connected to Apple’s servers.

The developer said that he will post a video tomorrow showing Siri fully working on the iPhone 4 and connected to Apple’s server. The new video of tomorrow (if true) will be something REAL and NEW.

Steve Jobs Vowed to Spend His ‘Last Dying Breath’ Destroying Android

Quotes from the Steve Jobs biography reveal how upset the Apple CEO was with Google’s launch of Android and that Jonathan Ive had ‘more operation power’ at Apple than anyone, according the Associated Press.

Jobs was reportedly livid that HTC released an Android device which feature many of the popular features of the iPhone. Apple sued, and Jobs told Isaacson in an expletive-laced rant that Google’s actions amounted to “grand theft.”

“I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong,” Jobs said. “I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.”

At a meeting with Eric Schmidt in Palo Alto, Calif., cafe, Jobs told Schmidt that he wasn’t interested in settling the lawsuit.

“I don’t want your money. If you offer me $5 billion, I won’t want it. I’ve got plenty of money. I want you to stop using our ideas in Android, that’s all I want.” The meeting, Isaacson wrote, resolved nothing.

Jobs also reveals how much influence Jonathan Ive, Apple’s design chief, was given at the company. Jobs called him his “spiritual partner”.

He told Isaacson that Ive had “more operation power” at Apple than anyone besides Jobs himself – that there’s no one at the company who can tell Ive what to do. That, says Jobs, is “the way I set it up.”

In the book Jobs reveals that the name for Apple came to him as he was trying various diets, including one of fruits and vegetables. While on one of his fruitarian diets Jobs had just returned from an apple farm and thought the name sounded “fun, spirited and not intimidating.”

According to the book, Steve Jobs gave up Christianity at age 13 when he saw starving children on the cover of a Life magazine. He asked his Sunday school pastor whether God knew what would happened to him and consequently never went back. He did study Zen Buddhism later.

You can pre-order the biography from here for $17.88. It’s scheduled for release on October 24th.

A Smart Cover Can Be Used To Break Into Your iPad

A new iOS security flaw has been discovered that lets anyone with a smart cover break into your iPad, reports 9to5Mac.

What the flaw allows:
The person who unlocks your iPad 2 will not have complete access to your iPad, but will be able to gain entrance to whatever you locked your iPad 2 on. If your iPad 2 went to sleep in Mail, Safari, Messages, Contacts, or Maps, you can imagine the sorts of personal information that can be viewed on your iPad.

If your iPad was on the home screen when you locked it, someone trying to break in can only control media and see what applications you have installed.

Steps to Recreate:
1) Lock a password protected iPad 2
2) Hold down power button until iPad 2 reaches turn off slider
3) Close Smart Cover
4) Open Smart Cover
5) Click cancel on the bottom of the screen

To get around this bug you can disable Smart Cover unlocking from the Settings:General menu. Hopefully Apple resolves it soon.

iPhone 4S Passcode Bypassed By Siri

For those of iPhone 4S users who have a passcode enabled, Siri can still be activated from your lockscreen. So Siri wold let anyone bypass your iPhone Lockscreen to make a call, send a message, update Facebook, update Twitter or do more things without you.

Weng Chin shows us how this can be done on iPhone 4S below:

The feature to disable Siri feature at the lock screen from the exchange interface is not available now, but you can fix this problem by opening the settings application, go to the passcode lock preferences, finally toggle Siri to “Off”.

Steve Jobs Was Working On Next Product Until The Day Before His Death!

This is the most interesting news that you are going to hear it, We have got some news from the guys at CultofMac which claims that Steve Jobs was working on a new next Apple product until his day of death, the next product could be the iPhone 5 or iPad 3 who knows…

Also before Steve Jobs died he left Apple with four years of products, and that’s not all the son of PC Mag also said that he had a meeting with Tim Cook the CEO of Apple in the same day when iPhone 4S announced when Cook has to excuse himself:

When I was having a meeting with Tim Cook, he said, ‘Oh Masa, sorry I have to quit our meeting.’ I said, ‘Where are you going?’ He said, ‘My boss is calling me.’ That was the day of the announcement of the iPhone 4S. He said that Steve is calling me because he wants to talk about their next product. And the next day, he died.

Really that’s was very hard for Tim Cook and Apple employees, but here comes a question “What was Steve Jobs working on ?”

Apple Working On iPhone Nano?

Well, there is some cool things appearing, according to a report by PatentlyApple that they have discovered that Apple is working on an iPhone nano, yeah this may not be new because we heard from some weeks that Apple is working on a nano version of its popular smartphone.

Also the most interesting that the site also published a photo which claims that this is the photo of an iPhone nano concept photo:

Here’s PatentlyApple’s thoughts on the filing:

“That last patent isn’t about a specific phone design in the least and yet it may illustrate that an iPhone-nano like design was very much on the minds of Apple’s engineers back in 2006. Is that idea now scrapped being that iPhone subsidies allow older models of full size iPhones to sell for only $99 — or is it a concept that’s still on Apple’s roadmap? Time will tell.”
