iPhone 4S And iPad 2 Untethered Jailbreak In Progress, Unsigned Code Now Running On Device

A few weeks ago, the Dream Team was created consisting of a group of professional hackers working together to bring an untethered jailbreak to iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Soon after, pod2G said that A5 untethered jailbreak is just a matter of days away. Today we have got some good news from the well known hacker @Planetbeing. He has just tweeted something interesting on his timeline saying that he has finally managed to get his iPhone 4S to run unsigned code! This will undoubtedly bring hope to the community that the jailbreak release is drawing ever closer.

Here’s Planetbeing tweet:

@planetbeing: Finally got unsigned code running on my 4S with the stuff that will go into the new jailbreak!

After hearing this good news from planetbeing, we assume that the untethered jailbreak is very close and they are just step far away from the jailbreak release, but unfortunately, it would appear that too much shouldn’t be read into this, as his follow up tweet, which is response to a very persistant follower, says that there is still a lot of work to be done before any release is possible.

Downgrade / Unlock 4.11.08 and 2.10.04 Baseband iPhone 4 – Status

Here are new details regarding the downgrade and unlock of iPhone 4 on 4.11.08 and 2.10.04 basebands. After long time of silence, the well-know iPhone unlocker, Sherif Hashim, and the guy behind ultrasn0w unlock has announced today about some news regarding 4.11.08 and 2.10.04 unlock.

As most of you know, ultrasn0w can unlock iPhone 4 up to 1.59.00 baseband. Higher basebands can be unlocked only with the help of Gevey SIM. But unfortunately Gevey SIM is limited up to 4.10.01 baseband. The biggest problem is unlocking iPhone 4 on 4.11.08 baseband. Sherif Hashim announced that he is working now on 4.11.08 and 2.10.04 unlock with ultrasn0w.

Sherif Hashim said:

YES i am still working on the VERY TIGHT bbfw 2.10-4.11

How to avoid falling in 4.11.08 trap ? iPhone 4 users who rely on unlock using ultrasn0w or Gevey SIM MUST stay away from updating their iPhone 4 to stock iOS 5.x.x. You must update your iPhone 4 via custom firmware to preserve the old unlockable basebands using Redsn0w, PwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze.

Downgrade / Unlock 4.11.08 and 2.10.04 Baseband iPhone 4 Release date :

Sherif Hashim did not announce about an official release date for 4.11.08 unlock, as such task is not the sort of thing that can be developed overnight.

NO NEED to ask because it won’t make it achievable/earlier/easier

Apple Patches Untethered Jailbreak Exploit Corona Uses In iOS 5.1 Beta 3

That cat and mouse game between iPhone hackers and Apple employees is getting a real war more than a game. After several months of hard work, the iPhone hacker pod2g with the help of the iPhone Dev Team and Chronic Dev Team could release iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak for all A4 devices. Although iPhone 4S and iPad 2 are not jailbroken yet, pod2g said that the A5 untethered is matter of days away.

Corona 5.0.1

For those of you who haven’t updated to iOS 5.0.1 yet, it’s time to do so.

Couple of days ago, Apple released iOS 5.1 beta 3 to developers. iOS 5.1 beta 3 revealed some new features and bug fixes. With the release of iOS 5.1 beta 3, it was unveiled that Siri is most probably coming to the iPad 3 and may be all iOS devices. iOS 5.1 beta 3 also brought back the 3G toggle on iPhone 4S.

However, iOS 5.1 beta 3 brings some bad news to the jailbreak community. According to iPhone developer Nadeem Ateyeh on Twitter (via @veeence), iOS 5.1 beta fixes the Corona iOS 5.1 untethered. According to the developer, iOS 5.1 is not susceptible to the Corona jailbreak since it fixes the bugs Corona uses to untether iOS 5.0.1.

Of course, everyone of you must update to iOS 5.0.1 right now or at least save iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blobs using latest TinyUmbrella release.

iPhone 4S/iPad 2 Jailbreak Nears Completion, Sandbox Broken

Prominent names in the iOS hacker community are making progress in their efforts to deliver a jailbreak for iPhones and iPads powered by the A5 chip.

A new update from Yiduo David Wang, also known as Planetbeing on Twitter, reveals that the A5 jailbreak is one step closer to completion:

“And we’re out of the sandbox with @saurik’s invaluable help! (well, at least there’s a PoC) 😀 Turning out more complex than X-Gold 618,” he wrote on Twitter.

For those of you not familiar with what a sandbox is, a sandbox refers to a environment where software and potentially dangerous operations can be tested in isolation, thus reducing the chance of collateral damage to the primary system environment resulting from a poorly designed and/or malicious program.

According to iDownloadBlog, “X-Gold 618” refers to the iPhone 4 baseband chip that planetbeing hacked a while ago with the help of MuscleNerd, a member of the infamous iPhone Dev Team.

Another well-listed hacker in the iOS community, the Chronic Dev Team’s Pod2g, offers a more detailed look at their progress via a new blog entry.

“Here are some news about the current work on the A5 research,” his post begins.

“@planetbeing escaped from the sandbox with the help of @saurik. Thanks to their awesome work, there should be nothing left blocking for the A5 jailbreak,” he writes.

“Now it should be a matter of days. Still no precise ETA of course. We all want this to be finished ASAP, we’re getting tired!”, Pod2g concludes.

So while the hackers are not sure when the public release will occur, Pod2g is confident that this is going to be relatively soon.

A5 devices include the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2. The latter has been in the wild for almost a year, just to give you an idea of how hard it has been for the two aforementioned crews to crack it.

The iPhone 4S uses an almost identical A5 chip which means that whatever hack is released in the coming days, it will offer the same type of jailbreak for both devices.

Today MuscleNerd, the member of the iPhone Dev team has just announced on his twitter that @saurik the developer of Cydia has joined their team they are making progress.

props to @saurik for major contributions to the A5 version of @pod2g’s untether yesterday! (still no ETA, but moving forward)

iPad 2 untethered jailbreakAlso pod2g has stated that they have no intention to release A5 for developers now

Sorry, we can’t release the A5 for the developers, the exploit used have to be kept secret. I know this is unfair.

Now, with Dream team we are Sure that the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered jailbreak will be released very soon.

Turning off 3G in iPhone 4S coming back in iOS 5.1

Do you want turn off 3G on iPhone 4S? How to Disable 3G on iPhone 4S ? As most of you know that Disable / Enable 3G options is not existing on iPhone 4S running iOS 5. Enable / Disable 3G option was a good option in iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 as 2G saves battery life than 3G. This is good news for iPhone 4S owners.

1) Tap the “Settings” icon to launch Settings.
2) Click “General”
3) Click “Network”
4) Turn Off “3G”

Apple has just fixed this problem starting from iOS 5.1 beta 3. So far, this option still available for developers only as it appeared in iOS 5.1 beta 3.
iPhone 4S users will be able to use this option after the official release of iOS 5.1. Official release date – February-March 2012.

iOS 5.1 Hints at New iDevices With Quad Core Processors

With an iPad 3 announcement expected sometime within the next two months, we’ve seen an increase in gossip surrounding the tablet. Will it feature better cameras, a retina display, a faster processor, or all three?

Well it seems that evidence of the latter has just been uncovered in the latest version of iOS. The folks over at 9to5Mac are reporting that they’ve uncovered A6 quad-core processor references in the beta release of iOS 5.1…

Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac reports:

“Hidden deep inside the latest iOS 5.1 beta is updated processing-core management software that not only supports the dual core processing enabled by the A5 iPhone and iPad chip, but also quad-core processing. The references to quad-core iPhone and iPad chips come by way of a hidden panel that describes cores that are supported by iOS device hardware…

…Apple leaving references to quad-core chips in the iOS 5.1 beta is notable because iOS 5.1 is the software currently being tested against the third-generation iPad. In addition, as we previously revealed, Apple is currently testing an unreleased “iPhone 5,1″ against the iOS 5.1-beta software.”

Gurman goes on to note that this isn’t concreate evidence that the iPad 3 will feature the A6, but a quad-core processor would certainly fit Apple’s product pattern. If 2010 was the year of the A4 and 2011 was the year of the A5, then you would think 2012 would be the year of the A6.

An iPad 3 with a Retina display, a quad-core processor and an 8MP camera? All that is missing now is LTE.

iOS 5 Bug Lets Others Spy on Your Photos

Today, iPhone hacker, Ade Barkah came across a glitch in iOS 5 which is related with the time and Photos on your iPhone. Someone can view your Photos even if your iPhone is locked.

Apple introduced a feature in iOS 5 by the help of which you can quickly launch camera app directly from LockScreen if your iPhone is locked. Normally, only those photos are shown in the camera app which are taken at that time. But how apple segregate these photos from the others which are already present in the iPhone Photos app.

This phenomenon is actually due to the time change. Photos with those time stamp will be shown at that time. But, for some reasons, if your time settings are changed, then you can view all the photos on your Locked iPhone. Apple will probably fill this loophole in the next update. But for all those who are on iPhone 4S and iPad 2 shouldn’t update their devices to this next release. As Pod2g is about to release untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 in the near future, so Apple will probably fix vulnerability used in Pod2g jailbreak.
