So you have jailbroken your device running on iOS 5.0.1 by using Redsn0w 0.9.10b1 or by using the jailbreak tweak called Corona 5.0.1 Untether. You may noticed that Cydia is running slowly and doesn’t add any repo and sluggish, well you may think the problem is from your iPhone well it’s not:

With the public release of iOS 5.0.1 Untethered jailbreak, too many users jailbrok their devices and began adding too much repos and downloading jailbreak tweaks, so don’t worry it is just a period of time where Cydia store is having a large traffic from iPhone users and it will be fixed very soon and Cydia will run normally to all Apple devices….Please be patient 😀

Corona 5.0.1 Untethered Get’s Updated To Fix “LaunchctI” Error

Yesterday Pod2G released iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak, and just after some hours we showed you how to jailbreak your iPhone 4 or any A4 device by using two methods, the first method was by using Redsn0w 0.9.10b1untethered jailbreak and the other one by downloading a new jailbreak tweak released yesterday in Cydia store called “Corona 5.0.1 Untether” which also allows you to untethered jailbreak your device, but by the time users faced some problems in the tweak a “launchctl” error, has been fairly common. So Saurik has pushed out an update for the untether to fix it…

As we said above, today Jay freeman Saurik the father of Cydia and jailbreak has just pushed a new update from Corona 5.0.1 Untether jailbreak tweak which fixes “Launchcti’ that many iPhone users faced it during jailbreaking.

Convert 5.0.1 Tethered Jailbreak to Untethered Jailbreak

Do you have 5.0.1 tethered jailbreak on your iDevice and wanna convert it to untethered 5.0.1 jailbreak ? Well, Chronic Dev-team was managed to fix this, as they have released a new Cydia tweak called Corona to let who have already tethered jailbreak 5.0.1 on their devices to update it to 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak, let’s see how to do this.

Note: If you have already tethered 5.0.1 jailbreak on your device, continue reading the below steps.

Supported devices :

  • iPhone 4 (GSM – CDMA)
  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPod touch 4G
  • iPod touch 3G
  • iPad 1

How to convert 5.0.1 tethered jailbreak to untethered jailbreak :

Open Cydia and search for “Corona 5.0.1 Untether”, you will found it under the BigBoss repo for free. Install it. And now congratulations, you have untethered 5.0.1 jailbreak 😉

iOS 5.0.1 UNTETHERED JAILBREAK FOR NON-A5 DEVICES IS HERE!!!!

Pod2g’s untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, and iPad 1, has been released, according the iPhone Dev-Team.

A few days ago, @pod2g gave the untether to both the iPhone devteam and the chronic devteam. We’ve put it into redsn0w 0.9.10 and PwnageTool, and the chronic devteam put it into a Cydia package (the same set of exploits is in all three).

Basics:
● The untether is for iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone3GS, iPhone4, iPhone4-CDMA, iPad1, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G
● If you have one of those devices and are not on 5.0.1 yet, update now! The SHSH window is still open for 5.0.1 If you unlock via ultrasn0w or gevey, make sure you only get to 5.0.1 via a custom IPSW! See the guides at places like iClarified.com if you don’t know how. Once you’re at 5.0.1, use the latest redsn0w 0.9.10 to both jailbreak and untether.
● If you’re already at 5.0.1 with a tethered jailbreak, you have two choices: either run redsn0w 0.9.10 over your current jailbreak (deselect “Install Cydia” if you do that), or install the Cydia package prepared by the chronic devteam. The patches are the same regardless of which you choose.
● Some of you are using a hybrid 5.0/5.0.1 configuration. If so, do not attempt to install this untether over that setup! You will most likely get into a reboot cycle. Do a sync and fresh restore to 5.0.1 then install the jailbreak + untether.

i4Siri: Legal Siri Port On iPhone 4 In Works

Couple of days back, we’ve informed you that MuscleNerd posted that the new iOS 5.0.1 version seeded by Apple to the iPhone 4S makes Siri port to the iPhone 4 legal. Today, we’ve got some great news (via JailbreakNation) for you; some developers are currently working on a new method known as “i4Siri” to bring Siri port on iPhone 4 in a legal way.

The project i4siri is going to bring Siri to older devices running iOS 5 through some Cydia tweaks and utilities. These devices include iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G. Other devices will be supported later. Theoretically, it can be used on iPhone 3GS but no confirmations yet.

@MrAjsTech with @leftyfl1p could be able to legally port Siri on iPhone 4 and they showed off a video teaser before the release:

Cydia Is Now Saving iOS 5.0.1 SHSH Blobs For Untethered Jailbreak

Some great news for you jailbreakers; Saurik, Cydia’s founder, has recently started caching SHSH blobs for 5.0.1. We have been tipped off about this but we were not sure of this first until we saw 5.0.1 signatures are indeed present.

Cydia iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak

For those of you who don’t have a clue of SHSH blobs, they are signature files which are verified against Apple servers to ensure the latest firmware is running on the device. The main purpose is to allow users to restore to an older iOS version by downgrading the firmware.

Apple has made it a must that every device that is restored needs to be verified individually by their servers. For example, during a restore, you can see ‘Verifying restore with Apple’ at the top information bar in iTunes.

A partial digest of a firmware file to Apple is uploaded by a response protocol which leads to a decision to go on with the restore or not.
SHSH blobs are cached effectively and this makes the process to be bypassed, verifying restore via Saurik’s servers instead.

This is a perfect time for Cydia starting to cache SHSH blobs since we are near of an iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak which will be released by the Chronic Dev Team after which Apple will attempt to counter this exploit by releasing iOS 5.0.2 (or most probably 5.1).

So in case you mistakenly update to the new version that Apple will release, having these SHSH blobs saved on Cydia helps you to downgrade back to iOS 5.0.1 to get the jailbreak again.

It seems that the wishes of the jailbreakers are coming true at the end of 2011, with an untethered jailbreak coming and multiple vulnerabilties being discovered

iPad 3 To Be Released On Steve Jobs’ Birthday?

It has been heard that Apple is in the efforts of launching their latest version of iPad 3 on Steve Jobs’ February 24th Birthday. The manufacturing sector is being pushed for that, so the deadline could be met in time. The following report by FocusTaiwan has the details!

“A local Chinese-language newspaper reported Friday that iPad3 might be launched on Feb. 24 to mark the anniversary of the birth of Apple’s late co-founder Steve Jobs.
Citing sources close to Taiwanese makers in the iPad3 supply chain, the Economic Daily News said the gadget could be launched in mid-first quarter of next year or by the end of next March.”
