Unfortunately Khaled, the last firmware that your iphone 3G supports is 4.2.1. Personally I dont advise to update to iOS 4, just update to 3.1.3 if you haven’t because some users suffer from glitches and slowness when the update to iOS 4. This is because iphone 3G is partially compatible with iOS 4. I will post a guide about updating to 3.1.3 and to 4.2.1 in case you decide to do either.

btw i updated my phone’s software a few days back from 3.0 and it currently reads 3.1 7c144, is this 3.1.3 or not?
and my modem firmware is 05.11.07, i read that that makes a difference when updating and unlocking.

Hey, i have decided to go with ur advice on going for IOS 3.1.3 bas i cant find the steps u posted earlier :s?
btw, since going for the 3.1 update earlier, my iphone sometimes freezes when on standby. freezes could last for a few minutes (sometimes 15 mins), but this only happened 3-4 times :s

This is a tool that allows you recover all media from iPhone or iPod. (just in case you can’t open the downloaded file, you need to download something called winrar, which allows you to unzip the file).

alright thanks joe but i have another problem using the program that u just gave me i can transfer 100 songs max at a time n i got around 5000 songs on my ipod anyways i once used a program 2 do the same thing but i cant remember wats its called but by using tht program it creates a folder n transfer all the songs of the ipod i dunno if u’ve heard of it anyways thanks 4 ur help but if u no a better program it would be great

yes you can jailbreak 4.3.1 on iphone 4. check out the post thats on the main page about this. but i recommend using redsn0w 0.9.6rc14 instead of 0.9.6rc11 just because its a newer version. you can get it for windows here or for mac here

hey joe, nice work on the site! listen i have a question, ever since i updated my ipad to ios 4.2.1 and re jailbroken it, installous apps rarely get fully downloaded, i always get messages like unexpected content, unable to connect (even though my wifi never disconnects). any idea?

Hi peter, well first of all make sure you are running the latest release of installous. To do that, go to cydia do download any and all updates you have and retry downloading your apps. If that doesnt work, remove installous completely and reinstall it. If that even doesnt work, I advise you to update your iPad firmware to 4.3.3 and jailbreak it again and install installous.

Hey joseph, try this
Step 1:
Set up internet tethering on your iPhone. I don’t know how I did it but I used Black Ra1n/Sn0w to jailbreak and unlock, then downloaded the T-Mobile carrier settings from Cydia. I then changed the APN setting to “internet2.voicestream.com” and the option for tethering just magically appeared under Settings>General>Network. Like I said, I don’t know how it happened but it worked, I am not an expert on tethering so you might have to figure that out elsewhere.
Step 2:
Plug you iPhone into your PC using the provided USB cable.
Step 3:
Go to Settings>General>Network>Internet Tethering and switch it to “On.” Then it will prompt you for bluetooth or USB, select USB (duh.)
Step 4:
Go to network connections and you should see your LAN connection and a new connection that says “Apple Mobile Device Ethernet.” Simply highlight both connections, right click on one and select “Bridge.”
You will now be using your PC’s internet connection on your iPhone! It works for Cydia App store, Facebook, Safari, ect ect.
Note: After terminating the connection you must delete the bridge and make a new one when you re-connect.
If for some reason that doesnt work, you can buy a small, usb powered router, which you would plug into your laptop, and then use your iphone to connect to it. I know ebay sells such devices for less than 20$

Unfortunately zouheir 4.3.4 and 4.3.5 are not jailbreakable and they never will be. You will have to wait for the arrival of ios 5 and then wait for its jailbreak. Sorry 😦 the only way to jailbreak these 2 firmwares is if you have the shsh saved for 4.3.3 to which you can downgrade to 4.3.3 and jailbreak using redsnow.

i was just rereading my last comment, and i figured that i didnt make myself clear. when i say that 4.3.4 and 4.3.5 are not jailbreakable i mean that an untethered jailbreak is not available and never will be, however if you want a tethered jailbreak it is possible with redsnow 0.9.8b4

i got it all figured out except for push notifications. i tried using SAM, everything worked fine. Ipusher works sometimes but even when it does push notifications don’t work. can u help me please?

hey joseph, did implement SAM from the site i recommended? http://www.eljiz.com. Moreover, try a combination of push doctor and SAM, that might help you. Let me know what happens, maybe if that doesnt work, Ill be able to find another solution for you 😀

yea i used SAM, but when i get to the step where itunes should generate legitimate activation packets for my iPhone, its just not happening. but the activations state is WildcardActivated so i guess the whole process is working fine. i found 2 tweaks for push doctor, one from insanelyi repo and another from anathema. which one should i use? how long should i wait before push doctor starts working?
PS: i have never had a problem of connecting to youtube, just push notifications.

i think its working, but theres about a 5 min lag between when the notifications is sent and when i receive it. is there a way to fix it?

Hey Joseph, sorry for the late reply. anyways, its good to hear that everything worked out. However, Im afraid i might have some bad news. The 5 min lag you are talking about is due to the fact that your phone is not factory unlocked, and there is no fix for that to my knowledge. I will let you know if any fix comes up because im pretty sure some other locked iphone 4 users are facing this problem.

Hey man, my iphone 3G 3alla2, and its now a black window loading and loading for more than a few hours now. earlier today it happened w nataret lal battery la tefda. i plugged it in the charger w in 10 mins 3atet el battery 44% w then i tried to use it 3alla2 w now its the loading black screen. untethered jailbreak is not out yet. in order to get a jailbreak on iphone 4 you need to use redsnow 0.9.9b6. as for ipad 2, there is no jailbreak at all so far except for firmware 4.3.3 (which is untethered btw) and you can get that via jailbreakme.com

hi Joe. i upgraded my iphone 4 (not jailbroken) to IOS 5. now it is only an ipod:(
the network is not working (no network). I was told that the gervey sim does not support IOS 5.

If you didnt use redsnow to create a custom firmware that will preserve your baseband to ones that are unlockable by Gevey sim, consequently you will have an upgraded baseband. Unfortunately, there is no solution to this yet, neither in software (ultrasnow) or in hardware (turbo sim). A new turbo sim is needed and they are working on it. I, myself, am still experimenting with a combination of software and hardware methods to try and fix this problem, however i have not reached a solution yet.

you can try to rejailbreak with redsnow 0.9.9b7. if that doesnt work, you probably will need a restore. the latest version for iphone 3g is 4.2.1 and yes it is unlockable with ultrasnow

try turning it off completely and then use redsnow 0.9.9b8 to just boot. if that doesnt work, consider downloading tinyumbrella and trying the “fix recovery” option.

hey, no unfortunately you cant do anything with your 4S yet, but progress is being made, and fast progress. When the jailbreak is complete, you will be able to legally port siri to iphone 4.

hey! merry christmas to you too 🙂 try rejailbreaking with redsnow 0.9.9b9d, just apply the new redsnow jailbreak over the old jailbreak, it should work find. the new redsnow fixes a bug in the location services that is causing the loss of signal.

You cant really choose which baseband you want, the baseband comes along with the firmware, so lets say for iphone 4 ios 5.0, the baseband is 4.11.08, so you cant really choose it. and ill try and find the siri proxy and the restore from back up thing as soon as i can

Try restarting it. Press the home button and the power button together until the screen goes black. Then let the phone boot normally. This might solve your problem 🙂

oh when you said itunes mode you mean that on the screen you see the itunes logo with a usb cable right? i thought you meant the application itunes was stuck. i think you are in recovery mode. go to this website http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com and download the mac or windows version, depending on what os you have. its a very small file. when it downloads open it and plug your iphone in the computer, there should be a button called exit recovery in the top right corner. click it and it should fix your problem.

make sure that the firmware version you are on is 5.0.1 (94A06) and not 5.0.1 (94A05). go to settings, general, about, and look to the right of the word “version”. you most probably have 94A05, so you need to restore to 94A06, so first, download this file: http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone4//041-3417.20111215.Slnt4/iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.ipsw, and when its done, you need to click shift+restore in itunes and choose the file you downloaded and restore to it and you should be fine.

i need some serious help…..I just jailbroke my phone a few days ago when evasion came out for ios 6 on my iphone 4s….everything was going fine until I set up a passcode lock on it (along with the cydia app invisible passlock to hide the buttons)………long story short, I don’t know what passcode I set for the phone so now I’m screwed cause every time I try to put in a code it gives me the ‘wrong passcode’ try again…until my phone locks up completely. I dont know what to do at all….I tried restoring and updating and entering DFU mode or whatever and all this other shit but nothing has worked. Please help!

i have the HTC incredible S (i upgraded my android software to the 4.0.4 version). i’m subscribed to 3G. however lately nothing has been working on my phone except for whatsapp. i can’t open Facebook, Skype, and i can’t even download images on whatsapp, which gets very frustrating especially when it’s sth related to work. i don’t have this problem when i’m using WiFi on my phone. i first thought it’s due to bad 3G connection , however my sister and mother don’t have this kind of problem on their phones when they’re using 3G (they have the HTC Evo and Samsung Y respectively)
i know you’re page is mainly about apple product, but i thought that maybe you can help me as no one was able to find a solution for me.

i have iPhone 4 running on iOS 5.1 with BB 03.10.01 and using Gevey Ultra SIM. If i upgrade to iOS 6.x.x and preserve my current baseband – will this work with Gevey Ultra SIM? Offical Gevey page says that it does not work but has anyone tested this?!

To my knowledge, ios 6 breaks gevey ultra unlock. I advise you to officially unlock your phone (you can do that online for around $20 – $30 depending on the site, maybe even less).

Unfortunately the unlock for me is £109.00 as it’s locked to Three UK network which is among one of the most expensive. 😦

Is the lightning connector -not chraging- issue common? or do you think its an Iphone 5 issue?
Sometimes it does not charge, sometimes it does, but when i plug it in my macbook, it gives me a message saying “USB is taking too much power” then the macbook shuts down.

Wow. That’s quite a problem. I would advise you to try a different cable and another Mac. If the problem persists then your iphone is most probably malfunctioning. Otherwise id recommend getting a new cable and trying with a different USB port.

Hey Joe, a friend of your sent me here… Someone recently bought for me an iphone 6 from T Mobile in the states (they paid full price) as they said it is Contract Free and Unlocked… However it seems the phone is locked. I heard a lot of contradicting information online. Was hoping to get an answer on how to unlock it but factory unlock and if this is actually possible.

Tmobile phones comes locked for the first 40 days, after that you can request an unlock code from them given that you paid full price for it.

Also let me add something, contract free and unlocked are different. Unlocked means that you are not restricted to any given plan or carrier. Contract free means that while you arent restricted to a plan, you still are restricted to the carrier you bought the phone from. In the US, only tmobile sells contract free phones, but like I said, after 40 days you can request and unlock code and you will be given one since you paid full price.
